songs you don’t know: Pearl Jam, “Crown of Thorns”

19 Aug

More from L’Andrew the Love Child… if you haven’t heard the Mother Love Bone ballad “Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns” from the Singles soundtrack (and elsewhere), it may very well be the best song you’ve never heard. It’s like “November Rain”, if “November Rain” was worth a damn.

Here’s Pearl Jam covering it in Chicago last year. They do an amazing cover of it from time to time, although I’m not sure if “cover” is the right word, considering their guitarist and bassist helped write it. Either way, Eddie Vedder looks more and more like thisguyIknow Mike Ash every time I see him.

In the not-too-distant future, I’m planning on doing a big-ass Pearl Jam special post.  Just to warn you.  Maybe I can get the guys over at songsthatsavedyourlife to help me out on that one.
