expecto controversius, part deux

Here’s Bill O’Reilly’s take on Dumbledore being gay. I’m sure you can imagine.

His problem seems to be that now children will think it’s all right to be gay. Not that it will make them gay, heavens no, but that they’ll be tolerant of gays. But he’s not a homophobe, you know. He’s just bothered that future generations won’t be homophobic.

No, no, wait: sorry. He’s bringing to our attention the fact that “millions of Americans feel this way.” He, of course, refuses to share his opinion on this, because he’s a journalist and he has to remain objective. “No spin,” and all that. But “many parents are worried in America about the gay agenda and indoctrination of their children to see homosexuality in a certain way. That debate is raging all over the country.” Well, thanks for telling us, Bill, in a fair and balanced, no spin way, that there’s a gay agenda.

Sweet Jesus.

This is like someone going on TV fifty years ago and saying “Millions of Americans have a problem with Nat King Cole sharing a stage with Doris Day, a white woman. Now, I’m not a racist, but there’s a debate in this country over the morality of mixed race couples and isn’t this just part of the negro agenda?
