It *was* way cool, wasn’t it?!

I also liked how when he appeared on The Daily Show later, Jon Stewart asked him about the infomercial-ness of it, saying “What just happened? Did you just sell us a Shamwow?”

    Heh.

And get this….Obama will be *here*. As in *right in Sarasota*. TOMORROW MORNING. And I can’t go.

    *Wail!!*

I thought it was very well done, I just hope the message gets to the people who really need to hear it; those who are undecided or those who are still nervous about the idea of an Obama presidency. When you watch something like this I find it really hard to believe that you could STILL think giving retired people who’ve worked all their lives healthcare so they can live with dinity is bad old socialism, while bailing out the corportate companies who pray on those people isn’t.

Note to Lauryn: Call in sick to work! This is a historic moment and you don’t want to miss it!

I was a dork and went to work. SIgh. I felt shame inside because I *really* wanted to be at the rally, but it sounds like it was incredibly hard to get in….the stadium is built for 7,700 and they fit a crowd of 12,500 inside. The local paper’s quote on the event: “They’re packed in like sardines!!”

It’s hard to tell which way Sarasota’s going to go…in my extremely unscientific way of looking at things, it seemed for a good long time like it was leaning Obama’s way (more yard signs, more bumper stickers, more Obama gear everywhere)…but looking at the attendees for the two recent campaign events here it seems even. McCain only was able to seat 3,000 at the rally he had here last week, but another 9,000 listened over loudspeakers outside the auditorium, so 12,000 people “went” to the event…and today for Obama the 12,500…I don’t like the slimness of that margin.

Argh….back to toiling away at my non-profit existence!!
