Getting slightly grunge nostalgic as of late.
“Son Of A Gun” was a cover of a Vaselines song that Nirvana put on their Incesticide CD. That’s actually my favorite Nirvana album, despite being a B-sides and rarities comp, and despite its icky name. “Did you actually,” said my father, circa 1994 “purchase an album called… Incesticide?”
Yeah, Dad. I did. YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND ME, OLD MAN!
I don’t know if it’s my favorite Nirvana song, but it’s the one that makes me feel the most nostalgic. It’s five chords, simple progression, very catchy, you can bounce around to it – it’s one of the first songs I ever learned how to play, and dammit I felt awesome bashing that thing out on my second-hand Gibson Epiphone, endlessly, in the basement.
The rain it always starts… when you go awaaaaaaaaaay.
